  • healthy and convenient

We have a very busy week and sometimes I’m unable to bring home made food with us or there isnt the facilities to heat up the food, so I always carry a Rafferty’s garden pouch in my bag. Its great to know my daughter can eat when shes hungry and that she’s got a full, healthy tummy.

  • Highly recommend

I have used Rafferty’s garden for all 4 of my children. I love that’s it’s full of natural ingredients and started all my kids on this smooth range from five months. I love the variety and always recommend them. I find that he smooth range is fantastic as I start introducing solids and the purée range is great for six month plus. The sachets are great size and very convenient for busy mums like me.

  • Love how easy it is to let them feed themselves

Soon after we started my daughter on solids we started looking at introducing pouches to her because the on-the-go convenience was too good to pass up. I was drawn back to Rafferty’s Garden over and over again because I knew it wouldn’t contain lots of unnecessary ingredients and was going to be one of the best things I could give her.

My daughter loved that even from a young age she could hold them herself and took great pride in grabbing them from my hands to feed herself, although this wasn’t always as clean as it could be it was great to be able to start building her independence.

I like that there is a broad range of flavours even from a young age and continue to buy them for her now even though she eats 3 solid meals a day. Raffery’s Garden is something I will keep buying especially when my second child arrives as I’ll be able to chuck a few of these in my bag and be able to provide pleasing snacks to both of them.

  • Loves it!

Raffertys garden offers a variety of baby food which my little man enjoys. It is the next best thing to me cooking his meals for him. He doesn’t refuse to eat it he keeps coming back for me which is great as with some food he will not open his mouth. I am happy to continue with these products as I know it is something that won’t get wasted. It is convenient for when we are heading out and always good to have in the cupboard. It is a healthy choice for my little man and he really loves it!

  • Raffertys garden has a great range and variety. I don’t feel guilty feeding him these. I love the convenience of these products especially when we are out and about. I always ensure there are some in the cupboard. They are also great to add to cooking/baking when puree is needed. My baby will eat them all day if he could.

  • Smooth Range

Still love this product. I love how easy and convenient it is. It is very important to me that there is nothing else added to this product. I still am recommending this product to other mums.
I still continue to buy this product as it is good to have in the cupboard for emergencies and is also good to mix in with my LO porridge in the morning or his yoghurt for dessert.

  • Great introduction to food

I love these products as this is the first food I gave Bub as it was the one product without additives and it is only what it says on the packet. Now as my Bub eats almost anything I get the satchels for travel and when I want to try new flavours.

  • My sons first food

My son loves the raffertey’s garden range. I tried him on the pouches before I started cooking his food to see how he goes and now I cook his vegetables for breakfast and lunch but he has the fruit in the pouches for breakfast and snacks. He was just shy of four months when we started and now at just over 5 months we have tried some other products but always come back to the raffertey’s range

  • Handy pantry staple .

Week-end breakfasts are a little more creative here. This morning I whipped up a pancake/donut batter using Rafferty’s Garden smooth apple, pear and cinnamon. I poured the mix into my mini donut machine and after a few minutes simply rolled them in cinnamon sugar. Oh my warm, sweet heavenly delights ..oh so good. The homemade batter was so much healthier than store bought and the addition of the Rafferty’s added to a super nutritious mix and gave them a delicious taste and texture. Rafferty’s is so versatile and it is one of my pantry staples.

  • Great to have in the baby bag

I was one of those mums who thought I’d only ever feed my bubs homemade veggies and never use packaged food. Then I actually encountered the reality of having kids! It’s good to know with this range that all you’re giving your baby is the fruit and veggies and no nasties. It’s such a lifesaver when travelling to be able to grab a pack when Bub is hungry.
My youngest is too old now so lucky I mind my baby niece, so I still get to have a little taste of the Apple cinamon one sometimes – yum!

  • On the go convenience

Doing regular drives of at least an hour it was so convenient to be able to feed him something fruitfilled and easy for him to consume. Highly recommend them. I never really used the ones with veg but kept a steady supply of the fruit ones in my cupboard, ready to grab on the go.

  • Perfect for Princess

Our daughter has just turned 4 months and is going through her bottles every 2 hours. We decided to add a meal each lunch time to help her feel more full.

    Enter Rafferty’s!

She absolutely demolished it! She did really well with the smooth texture and was happy to eat her food and shove her hands in, I think to make sure she didn’t spill any!

I recommend using Rafferty’s Garden as it is important to me that my daughter enjoys her foods and there are no hidden nasties in her food

My daughter absolutely loved Rafferty’s Garden products. The pear and superberries was her ‘anytime of the day’ snack and she just love, love, loved sweet potato, carrot and apple. The range available was great, the packaging allowed her to become more independent with feeding herself. Plus it is very convenient to carry with you wherever you go.

  • Way to eat fruit

These are excellent, just the ticket. We buy in bulk from Chemist Warehouse to ensure we are always stocked up, Little Miss 2 refuses most fresh fruit, so this has been the best way to encourage fruit eating, The ‘nothing else’ is also very important and the convenience is great. I always add a few to the nappy bag before we venture out.

My son loves Raffertys smooth, especially the banana, pear and mango flavour. Although he is almost 10 months old he still prefers smoother purees than lumpier foods so its is great that Raffertys has such a large range of flavours to keep him happy. I love that they are made in Australia.

How to choose the best lunch box for school

When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.

  • Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

What to put in kids’ lunch boxes

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.

  • I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
