Skyr Natural went down an absolute treat in our house. For breakfast, as an afternoon snack with fruit and for cooking.

Loved the thick creamy texture and low sugar content for my toddler.

Is now a staple in our house.

  • Low carb goodness

One thing I absolutely loved about Skyr Yoghurt is that it's low carb, which is perfect for my dietary needs.

I was also really excited to see that the Strawberry flavour has real fruit at the bottom of the tub!

  • Delicious yoghurt - wouldn't believe it's low fat!

This youghurt is absolutely amazing, creamy and delicious with natural or two other flavours, there's a style for everyone. We used the natural yoghurt in looking then had the vanilla bean with strawberries to dip for dessert, everyone was amazed at the versatility and that it was low fat youghurt, thanks for the straining method.

  • Great taste and healthy too

Thank you for letting me try SKYR

My family loves it and so do I, so hard to find a healthy option with a great taste but this one ticks all the boxes. I was hoping to try the strawberry but my local Woolies only had the natural. I drizzled a bit of honey on mine for breakfast as I have a bit of a sweet tooth but love that I can give the same yoghurt to my son knowing it's good for him and not full of all that junk.

    Will definitely buy again

  • Indulgence!

This was perfect with some pancakes and fresh strawberries, smooth and thick and totally delish! Love the 5 star health rating!

I purchased the Natural variety because it was actually the only one stocked in my local Woolworths but I love that it was available in two different sizes.

I grabbed a couple of the 170g tubs and served one up with the pancakes and strawberries for a late lunch, there's still a little left over to go with tomorrows breakfast so I'm really happy with the serving size of each tub.

The Natural variety is great for serving with something sweet and I'm really looking forward to trying the Strawberry and the Vanilla varieties if our Woolworths store does stock them in the future.

  • SKYR Yoghurt

My Daughter came over this afternoon. She and her Two Girls eat a lot of Yoghurt. I got her to try SKYR Yoghurt a la natural. She LOVED it also. We even added smashed Banana and a little Maple Syrup. Yummo!!! She was going to buy some for her Girls to try but I had to say that our Woolworths were out of it? Unless she asked if they had any out the back, maybe they hadn't had a chance to top up with the Christmas period. I f she can't get any she said that she would get some tomorrow when we go into town which is half an hour away. Thank you for giving me the chance to try SKYR Yoghurt. Definitely buying again.

  • Woolworths SKYR Yoghurt.

I received the Woolworths cards in the mail 20/12/2017. I went to Woolworths 21/12/2017. Unfortunately Woolworths had a promotion the week before. If you had a Woolworths Rewards Card you received SKYR Yoghurt for no charge. BUT I managed to find x1 Natural SKYR Yoghurt. I LOVED it. It is so creamy and smooth. I divided it into portions. I tried it a la natural on cereal, with smashed Banana, with Strawberries, with Blueberries and finally Mango. The combinations could be endless!!! OOH LA LA all combinations were divine you could even say decadent. What I also LOVE is that it is made with Skim Milk. Low in fat and high in protein. I have a Disability that has stopped me from being as active as I was. So SKYR Yoghurt is ideal for me to help with trying not to gain weight. I need all the help that I can. Definitely buying SKYR Yoghurt again.

I chose the strawberry flavour Skyr yoghurt. I was so happy with the creamy taste and the fresh fruit on the bottom of the tub.

Mixing it with my morning musli was a great decision. It was a yummy start to the morning. And knowing it is low in fat is an extra added bonus!

  • Sensational Skyr!

Skyr Yoghurt was delicious, creamy and everyone enjoyed it; I love that it has a 5 star health rating, making it a wonderful choice. Wheather it is the strawberry one having real fruit on the bottom or the natural which comes in a larger size too (that we all love), they are ideal for families and budget friendly. Being high in protein and low in fat; these are products that we know/trust. I happily recommend to others and will be purchasing again.

  • Hit with family

    My family loves skyr yougart.

I found it to be too sour for my taste as my store only stocks the natural. Can't wait till the stock the vanilla so I can try that.

Kids have used in smoothies and with fresh and frozen fruit. Great alternative to icecream. Will buy again

  • Creamy and healthy

My husband picked up Skyr when I left him unsupervised grocery shopping. Since he usually throws in junk food and questionable foods (mushy peas!) I was surprised that I actually liked the taste of Skyr. When I looked on the nutritional label, to find out that it had very low sugar was a total bonus! I haven't said anything to my family and they have been hoovering it up on cereal for breakfasts, snacks with fruit and dessert with a dollop of honey. Gets my vote.

Both Vanilla varieties and the Strawberry were loved by my family. The kids 5&6 usually only eat the smooth yoghurts but the fruit in the strawberry was great tasting. • Heavenly Yoghurt !!!

I purchased both the Natural and Strawberry Skyr Yoghurts and my family absolutely loved both.

As a family that normally rushes out the door in the morning, I have started to make healthy breakfast options that people can eat on the go without running late. The most popular choice is Skyr Natural Yoghurt with fresh fruits such as strawberries, bananas or whatever else is in season.

I have tried the natural yoghurt in dips, in muffins, as a dressing with a bit of lemon and even in potato salad.

I love the fact that Skyr is high in protein due to the manufacturing process and that Woolworths have released a range of foods that make it easy to choose healthy options.

We all love Skyr Yoghurt and after a few weeks of healthy breakfasts are definitely feeling the benefits.

  • Great tasting yoghurt

Skyr was a a great tasting yoghurt. It tasted sweet, but knowing it is healthy for my family makes it much better. It's great to have a yoghurt we can give the boys to eat, but also use for things such a smoothies or cooking. Thanks for letting us try Skyr yoghurt. Only thing I'd have to say is that our woolworths only had Original flavour available. We would love to be able to try the other flavors one day too.

  • Pretty nice

I tried the natural Greek style skyr yoghurt and it tasted pretty good. I sometimes find these types of yoghurt a bit tart, but this one was a pretty good option. I’ve also tried the vanilla bean one and that was more to my liking. The Woolworths I’ve been to haven’t had the strawberry version and that would be my preferred option, so if I see that again I might give it a ago. I’ve also had trouble finding the larger size tubs which I usually buy as my whole family eat yoghurt. I’ll keep a look out though!

  • Pretty nice

I had never tried skyr yoghurt before now and while I had seen it before I didn’t realise it was a Woolworths product.

It’s a good choice for Greek style yoghurt and I didn’t find it too tart like I do some in this categories. I would like to see more flavour options as my Woolworths only had Greek and vanilla bean (not sure if it comes in others). I did like it though and if I was looking for this kind of yoghurt I would probably buy it again.

The biggest negative for me that it only came in the small, single size in my Woolworths that I could see and we tend to buy the large family size tubs as we all eat it.

How to choose the best lunch box for school

When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.

  • Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

What to put in kids’ lunch boxes

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • That lunchbox comparison table is handy to have. It helped me make a decision on which lunchbox to buy next for my daughter who is starting kindergarten. I needed to upgrade her lunchbox but wasn’t sure which way to go. The table helped me with my decision. I ended up going with the BBOX and have found a cheaper lunch bag from a department store that it fits in.

  • I do not know if anyone else has picked up on this or not, but every bag mentioned in the table above is a ‘designer’ brand. There are plenty of more affordable options that aren’t over $40. I have never spent that much on a lunchbox – even from Smiggle. The cheaper brands last just as well too.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.

  • So so many fantastic options! We use the montii co ones for our kdis and swear by it. Its lasted 3 years so far and still standing strong, like new since the first day using it. They are so durable and i find cleaning them to be the easiest for us.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • This is super useful article and thank you. I can see so variety of lunch boxes from every store. Always wonder which one would be more convenient to use by little hands. I love some of these lunchboxes to give it a try for this year. And then decide to go with suitable ones

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.
