  • In high school is used to recover my schools diary with collages! But this year miss 5 will start school for the first time and will use ready made slip on vinyl covers for reuseability and ease of cleaning!

  • If you have the time, it’s great to get the kids to cut out pictures the like and glue them on the books like a collage, then clear contact them. It’s sure to be different and they’ll like whats on them. You can even do themes or collate similar pictures for different subjects.

  • I always do clear contact over paper book covering to prevent rips and snags

  • I love the plain paper, I remember doing this as a child and then cutting out an old birthday card and sticking it on before covering in plastic

  • I just covered my son’s books today. Plain white paper (thank you Ikea!) with the letters of his name cut from some scraps of multi-coloured paper we had. Can’t wait until next year now to try some of these alternatives!

  • we get lots of xmas cards, and sometimes they are just too nice to throw away. Why not let your children cut them out, you supervising if needed, and then paste on to their own covers, made of brown paper which can be purchased at coles or woolworths in a roll. They also will then know what are their own books by the covers. Hard when so many are there in a pile… all sorts of cards can be used, or even just cut out from one of their own magazines or you rs, if they can be cut up… boys love even transfers, and I found some cheap ones of boats, planes etc. theycan use… Scrapbooking ideas can come in handy here.

  • The music covers and the denim wrap are great, let your daughter design her own with letters, stickers etc.
