Hello!

My hair is curly and has a cow lick in the front. When I was five years old my mother took me to the hairdresser to have my long hair cut and the my fringe trimmed straight. It took the hairdresser an awful long time to get the fringe and length exactly straight as it was always tricky with the cow lick and curls! Anyway finally it was a success and we headed home.

Mum began dinner and I must have been terribly bored or inspired by my visit to the hairdresser as I found a pair of scissors and began to do a few “improvements” to my newly styled hair! Mum caught me, but all to late, as I had chopped a large piece out of my fringe (yes the one that was so hard to get straight!) and I now looked ridiculous and I have never seen mum so mad at me as she did this day. The look on her face and her anger will stay with me forever…thankfully the haircut didn’t!!!!

  • Very funny! Thankfully my daughter has not decided to play hairdresser like you! I had a friend whose three year old thought that if she chopped a bit off it would just magically regrow. Lesson now learnt!

  • I remember when I was 10 I had long blonde ringlets. My mum bei g a busy career woman decided to take me to the hairdressers & have her chop them all off. I went from looking like a sweet little girl. To a Tom boy. I was sooooo sad but mum said it was easier for her. When I had my girl as she got older she could have her hair cut anyway she wanted :)

  • My son cut his own hair on day too. He stashed the hair in the toy box thinking i would not notice but he had taken a large chunk of the front of his hair so yes i did notice straight away. Out came the clippers for a number 4 on top :-)

  • My 9 yr old daughter decided to snip her hair (I don’t know what possessed her to do it…lol), I found the evidence in the bin. I didn’t get mad though, she punished herself. The part she decided to cut was to the scalp, right on top and big enough to be noticeable as it grew back. It stuck straight up for months and she had to try to stick it down. It has only just grown long enough to sit down by itself. She said she will never do something so silly again. Lesson learned.

  • Lol I think we all have tried this. My eldest didn’t get a chance and I am hoping I will have the same luck with my youngest. I say luck as it wasn’t due to good parenting just luck

  • Ahh memories… I always wanted to have a part down the middle- the only way I could get this ‘sylish’ look was to cut a big ‘V’ in the middle of my fringe…my mum didn’t take too kindly to my efforts either. Thanks for a good giggle and a memory flashback
