Hello!

I know, I know I should be happy that my husband gets out and plays a sport, but its not the whole day of sport that bothers me, its the endless hours he spends in the pub afterwards. We have 4 young children (all under 4.5 years) and I am 23 weeks with number 5. I am really tired and need help to bath, feed and get them all to bed. I know my Hubby works hard all week and deserves a night off, but I can’t help but think, where is my night off. Surely I deserve a night off once in a while??? Does any of my MoM friends have any ideas how I can calmly convince my husband to come home at a decent hour after cricket??

  • It is hard to change because this is the life you have chosen and who you married . The only way is to try and get some outside help , mothers group etc … and do something different whenever you get the chance . Always look after yourself first and you will feel much better .

  • No, I can’t help you. Mine is the same, if not worse, as he’s secretary/treasurer of his local club. He spends hours every week organising things, attending meetings, on the phone. That’s summer. In winter, it’s darts, another pub game

  • I can’t stand cricket and how it consumes so much time with hubby.
I refused to have kids until he cut back!

  • My son started to do this with hockey so my daughter in law decided to go to the games with him and their children and he had to look after the kids after the game. He soon decided he would come straight home after the games

  • Been there done that & when it wasn’t cricket it was baseball. My ex trained 2 nights a week, thurs being pub night, played all day on weekend, sometimes both days & I was a stay home mum with 3 children within 3 1/2 yrs. sometimes I’d tag along as it got me & children out of house & I mingled with other mums but yes it’s unfair. I remember all those years ago I took myself to the gym of an evening 2 nights a week, the days there was no training. My ex didn’t budge but that came as no surprise to me. Maybe sit down & discuss how you feel, it’s only fair you have something that’s yours & yours alone :)
