Hello!

Last night hubby was on “ok, where the heck should we put Patrick (our elf) tonight?!?” duty, so he decided to suspend him in an aeroplane from the a/c vent (as you do). So as it is night time again, it is time to find another place for him. As I am typing this, hubby has only just now replaced the a/c vent which he accidentally ripped out of the ceiling whilst removing the aeroplane and is now sweeping up the pile of dust which fell onto the bench and floor on “removal” of the vent. To give him credit, he stuck with it for a good half an hour until it was fixed (I would have gotten impatient and probably brought the whole roof down!), in spite of my choked laughter and (mostly) sincere offer of assistance (I fetched tongs and a flat-ended texta. Very MacGuyver!). Lollol the things we do for our kids! And thank goodness we only need to think of another couple of Elf-spots!

  • Haha oh no, a cute little task turned into a whole night time chore! Hopefully the kids loved the elf effort

  • We have an elf called Coconut and my kids love him. I post his antics on my Facebook page and my family and friends enjoy seeing his adventures too. What fun!!!

  • what a great story! what is this elf on a shelf stuff though? what is the concept behind it? move it around every night? i’m not sure

    • The idea is that the elf keeps an eye on the kids, then reports back to Santa each night to tell him if the kids have been naughty or nice (great way to encourage the kids to behave!). The elf gets back from Santa before the kids wake up, which is why he/she is in a different spot each day. The children are told they can’t touch the elf or the magic disappears (mind you, we still keep ours out of grabby hand reach!). When the kids are asleep, the parents move the elf to a different spot: where is up to the imagination! There are some pretty creative ideas (pinterest is a good one for inspiration) out there for what the elf can do. My two loved saying goodnight to Patrick before bed, and then trying to find Patrick the next morning :)

  • Lol I seen a post about when you leaves hubby in charge of elf on the shelf. It made me chuckle, just as your story has. It had like a pink barbie car against the wall with the elf on the shelf and some tomato sauce running down the wall with the caption “When you leave hubby in charge of elf on the shelf.”

    • It’s funny you should say that, because after hubby fixed the ceiling, this is what he did to poor Patrick! (And no, he hasn’t seen the website you referred to, this is all him. Sicko that he is lol). Yes, that is bloody footprints leaving the aeroplane crash leading to Patrick curled up in shock in the hippo’s mouth… I think I might have to take over the “where does the elf go” tonight… :-/

      • That’s absolutely hilarious!! Love it! Almost like a game of who can have the most creative Elf or Patrick moment lol! You will have to think of one to trump the Hippo!
