Hello!

I miss my 1 year old when I am not with him. I work 4 days a week and the days I do get to see him he won’t let me go. As soon as I put him in his cot after he has fallen asleep he will wake, the only way he will sleep is on me. I love my cuddles I really do but it makes it so difficult as I am unable to do house work. I would love to take an extra day off work but we need the money. How do you know you are doing the right thing? Im torn and broken about it. Do I keep doing what I am doing and have a son who misses me or do I go without the money.

  • Everyone’s situation is so different, it’s hard to give any advise. If your living expenses are that high that you have to work, would you consider moving to a cheaper place where your rent or mortgage would be more affordable then you could spend this time at home with your little one?
Just a suggestion, moving is huge. I just don’t understand sometimes why some choose to live say in Sydney when they could be living in a cheaper city if it means they’ll get family time.

  • I think you have to look at your reality and mix that with following your heart.

If your heart feels you need another day at home with your babe, then you should do everything possible for that.
They are only this little for so long, and you won’t regret the things you didn’t buy or the day of work you missed, but you’ll regret not enjoying this season of life.

If you look at your budget, maybe there are places you can cut corners, or cancel subscriptions that aren’t used as much? I don’t know what your job is but maybe there’s a way to kind of compress your hours into three days, it may be worth chatting with your boss? Or maybe the grocery bill can come down?
I don’t know the facts so I can’t comment specifically but maybe there is something that can be altered to allow for that day.

I hope something can work out so you’re able to feel happier and more content.

  • It is very hard situation. I think you can spending more time as you can when you off from work and weekend.

  • It is so hard, I really struggled when I went back to work too. I would also find that I felt bad about leaving my son so I was more lenient on him, letting him fall asleep on me and having cuddles and keeping him up later. This did not help him. In the end I had to make sure I stuck with his routine and get him back into a proper sleeping habit. And to know It was the best option for us all in the long run with me working.
