I have just been reading this article about orange peel and never knew it was so helpful for your health. Apparently it has more fiber than the fruit inside. It has anti inflammatory properties and is great for coughs and lung disease. The flavonoids in the peel also helps prevent skin and lung cancers. It is packed with vitamins and minerals. So next time I am throwing away the peel I will grate a bit off and add it to my cooking or add a bit to cakes, salads or yoghurt.

  • Ive just made some candy orange peel by boiling in water and sugar! Yum!

  • I didn’t know that either. I constantly grate the orange peel and freeze it in small portions. Always handy to have. I wonder if those properties are lost freezing the zest or not.
