Hello!

Is it just me, or has this year started to rush by? All of a sudden we are close to June and the end of term is almost here. I have been studying full time, as well as doing my vocational practice and then looking after my beautiful little girl. It seems that with all of this, I am on the down hill run of my study with my assignments needing to be handed in June. I like the pressure but this is rediculous. Why is time flying by so fast?

Along with my study, I am wanting to spend time with my gorgeous daughter and ensure that she has good quality time with me – playing games, reading, walks etc. But I also need time for me. Not to study, not to be a mum, not to be an employee but just some time to rest and just be.

In this world of rushing and bustling, finding that time to just breathe is important. We need to slow down. I sometimes feel guilty when I just want some time by myself and I know that I shouldn’t and that it is part of ‘looking after yourself’, but being a single mum, it is hard to find that alone time – even when the family is asleep.

Anyway, I hope that this story rings true with other mums.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

  • I know this is an old post but it rings true for me. I’ve started back studying with bub being 6 months. There’s an option to go back to part time work but I don’t think I can handle it all. Study takes so much effort at home and I barely get that done. I don’t know if it’s worth keeping up with it all or stopping and focusing on being a mum, but then I get worried about doing what I love later down the track when I do have the capacity. I know what you mean about alone time just for you, it’s hard to justify when there’s things to do :)
Thank you for sharing your experience.

  • I too was a busy working single mum, time poor, now a busy working grandmother, still time poor and the years slipping by.

  • It seems to get faster and faster every year.

  • Another year has passed! How did everything turn out for you and how are things now? I hope you are managing some “me time ” now : )
