  • It is a brilliant way to save for Christmas.

  • Yup. Agreed. Putting small amounts away regularly adds up and you don’t feel the pain if taking out a huge lump sum!

  • Its good to plan ahead. You can then enjoy your Christmas preparations without stressing about how much it is all costing.

  • I think that is a fantastic idea. I would prefer to do this than Crisco (which I have done once before). I think it was the biggest waste of money. At least in putting money away every fortnight I can still do my own shopping and compare bargains and shops. Great idea, thankyou!

  • Great idea! I’ve been doing the reverse weekly savings started with $52 per week in January then $51, $50 etc and it really adds up (some weeks we’ve missed as it’s a lot to put away but I’ve cut out my weekly coffee at a café and cut back on other treats)

  • Thats great we also have a separate account that we put money into each week and we do our big christmas food shopping out of it.

  • I like to use lay-by to pay for Christmas presents. I pay them off and I don’t need to worry about hiding them.

  • I too have a Xmas club account. Any loose change gets collect on a Sunday and I bank it every Monday. You would be surprised how quickly it adds up. Another way is to do online surveys like with pure profile.com.au. all the money I make there I consider extra and it gets automatically deposited into the same account. It always guarantees a little extra spending in the silly season when budgets and purse strings are sometimes tight.

  • Chrisco & castle hampers are great ideas for Christmas presents & food. Paying it of each week, you hardly notice the money going out.
