Hello!

Yesterday I spent some time with my eldest son…just he and I, for the first time in just over a month. With all the busy-ness of having a new baby (who arrived much earlier than we’d expected) and settling in to being a family of 4, it was time for my first little guy and I to enjoy some time together.

It was simply a trip to the shopping centre but it reminded me of how fast he is growing up.

No need for a pram now…he walks, runs, bounces along – all while holding on to my hand. A hand which is rapidly taking up more space in my hand these days.

Telling me all about his day…no, I couldn’t quite understand everything that had happened in his busy day at daycare, but I could certainly catch enough enthusiasm and happiness in his voice to know that he’d had a great day playing with his friends.

Helping me in the shops…when the bag was opened for my purchases to be put in, he helped put them in, then picked it up to carry it for me, calling out “Doot-do, doot-do mu-uch!!” all the way out of the shop to the person who had served us (translation – “Thank you, thank you very much!!”).

Finally, he and I shared smoothie…for which he had waited with infinite patience for a 2 year old. He had watched while other smoothies had been made, checking with me every now and then about how our “duce” was going. When ours was finally ready, he offered me the first sip…my little gentleman! <3

It was lovely to share this time. It went too fast, he is growing up too fast, but every moment that I get to be in his presence I am utterly in awe of the amazing person he is becoming :-D

  • I just adore that age – so helpful and cheerful, and everything a new discovery! It almost reconciles me to them not being babies anymore!
