Hello!

Myself and my husband are both big boned or large people should i say. So when our baby was born at just over 4kg at 38 weeks I wasn’t that surprised, I did have gestational diabetes after all. However I quickly found that my little champ could never be full. While babies his age were struggling to get through 120ml bottles he was chugging back 240ml and still demanding more as though he hadn’t been fed. Solids commenced at 4 months in an attempt to fill him up, but despite spoon after spoon, and countless snacks, he still acted hungry and demanded more. At our 6 month maternal child health check found our baby weighed in at 11kg, he was classified as not ‘big boned’ or ‘large’ but Obese, what had I done to fail my child? Several paediatrician reviews later revealed excess formula feeding and poor nutritional snacks to blame. Now we’re all healthier

  • I was going to suggest maybe you misreading signals. Seeing hungry signals when they could have been bored or tired signals. It’s good to hear it’s been sorted and you’re all on the healthy lifestyle track

  • Do yourself and your baby a huge favour and try stick to a healthy diet. You want him to be happy, fit in with his peers and be able to participate in all sorts of things without being selfconcious. Lucky you realised before it was too late.
