  • It would serve them right if they had to pay up twice…..Cant see that happening!

  • You are kidding! How can they direct debit if they don’t even have the paperwork?

  • Bizarre. Paperwork and businesses always seem to be a problem.

  • So weird, but you should be refunded for all the payments you have made , that were doubled up.

  • Wow, that’s crazy!!! Just goes to show that the insurance company isn’t cross referencing their policies.

  • A simple solution would be to cancel the direct debits for a policy they cannot find and leave the one remaining policy. The financial industry ombudsman may be able to assist if they do not resolve your complaint.

  • Very unfair. They should refund you.

  • The other day i was get quote for all my insurances as they are all up for renewal. It was only then that i realised i had no paper work on our house insurance. A quick phone call and they emailed it to me. if anything happened to me my hubby would have know idea of who we were through for anything. I should do a if I die folder.

  • I would say that they should have to refund one of you the payments but I bet they don’t.
They will say it’s your fault for not picking it up.
Hope you get some answers soon.

  • They should refund for one as you can’t insure contents twice. I’d go to the Insurance Ombudsman if they don’t play fair.

  • Obviously your insurance company will only allow one claim, but I do agree that the company should have told you earlier of the situation.

  • oh wow that is not good at all, I would cancel both policies and go with someone totally different.

  • I would be angry if I were you as well. I hate it when companies make an error and then make it your problem.

    Reply

  • I hate it when you realise a company has made an error, but you have to fight to get them to realise it!

  • In that case currently if something happened you would both be able to claim IF you could provide BOTH your policy details.
