My hubby's birthday - Real Mum story on MoM

On the 13th of August it was my hubby’s 67th birthday. He is called ‘Grumps” by his grandchildren. My daughter in law and I made him a football cake using his team colours. He just loved it. The grandkids loved it. Emma bought a football cake tin, so we used two vanilla cake mixes, cooked them together in a baking dish, then cooked a chocolate cake in the football. We covered the vanilla baking dish cake with black icing and the football in red. Made black laces, and emma cut GRUMPS 67 using the red and put it on the black. They bought Grumps a 3 burner hooded BBQ with side burner. We had roast pork with vegies for dinner. What a fantastic night. Our granddaughters Briella (4), Chloe (2) and Skyla (10 mths) were all over him, ate too much cake, we put the two eldest to bed and we came home. Grumps fed the dogs, made a cuppa, I cut more cake and we went to bed. It was an exhausting couple of days, but the best 2 days I have had in a long time. Sometimes you feel like family are a bit too much, but without my family, I would be lost. My youngest is the only one who lives near us all the other 4 kids and 4 grandkids live too far away. I think I may try and meet in the middle for his 70th. I may rent a house on Mainland Australia and all of us meet up. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful surprise. He would love that. next year we hope to be in the USA for his 68th. I won a trip to Orlando, Florida, cruise the Bahamas, Mexico and Las Vegas. It depends on the weather whether we go then or leave it until January/February the next year.
I tried to put a photo of the cake, it was beautiful. I just had the last piece that we bought home. Delicious. Using the Icing from the tubs is great. They come in all colours, you don’t need to colour them yourself. They were around $20 per tub at Spotlight. The icing is so flexible too. I had a ball. xxx dee
ps. if you practice decorating cakes, you can use the icing for cupcakes and for decorating cakes. It will last for ages.

Thank you so much everyone. Grumps had a great time, and still is. We finished the cake, well our portion that we bought home. We left the major bit with our son and grandchildren, they can have it for snacks.
Our holiday will be great as long as we can save the $10,000 needed for air fares, some meals and some taxes. Spending money too… I made an online discount shopping website called http://www.allbargainsanddiscounts.com I have heaps of shops advertising all at fantastically discounted prices. All are bargains, up to 90% off, and that is for real. Holidays up to 70% off. You will be surprised how cheap some items are. I sell everything from Baby clothing and kids toys and clothing to Wedding Gowns around $30+ and they may be cheap, but not cheap quality. All goods are of great quality. I have bought something from many of the shops advertised. They are great. Invitations needed? Have them printed on wood, then post them in wooden envelopes. The more you spend, the more chance Mick and I will be able to go on this trip. It all depends on the success of this website. I know I will have something you need.
