I should get in there and pack up that cot! I’d been telling myself that for at least a month. My youngest has just turned 3 and had promoted himself to the big bed. Getting rid of the cot from the boy’s shared room was going to give them a lot more space. After Master 3 hadn’t used it for 3 weeks I figured it was time to get it over and done with. The trouble was, this time it was the last time I’d ever have to pack it away. I have 3 children, there will be no more as my tubes have been tied. It gave me a lot to reflect on as I was wiping it over for the last time. I didn’t think it was going to be that big a big deal, but there must have been a bit of dust in that room, my eyes were watery and I had a bit of a lump in my throat. I love that my children are growing into beautiful little people but the baby years were all gone. I got the tools out and pulled the bolts out of the cot and took each piece out of the room for the last time. The job was done, I’d survived the process with just a couple of mummy tears. I got the vacuum out and gave the floor a good clean. Then the boys came running into the room, squealing with delight about all the room they had, they wanted to play on the floor with all their toys. There was no more time to mourn the cot being taken away for the last time, it was time to move on with the next chapter of our lives. On to more greatness. I realise you have to enjoy the moments as they happen as it all happens way too quick.
