Hello!

We were out yesterday and I was saddened to see so many people walking and looking at their phones, having something to eat and drink and looking at their phones, shopping and looking a their phones, being served and looking at their phones and the ultimate being in a movie and someone taking a picture of the movie on their phone and then looking at their phone! Everybody had somebody else with them! I am puzzled at this problem? These people were not talking to each other, but were engaged with their phones. I love to communicate and talk to people and this totally perplexes me. Does anyone else find this a puzzle?

  • yeah it is not like the good old days where eye contact, manners and respect meant a lot. My god, i was at my friend’s house and she got a text message and left the room (bedroom) she came back so infuriated! Her hubby and son thought it would be hilarious to text her to come and fetch them a drink!. Apparently they have done this a few times and are serious!

  • That is the thing I hate about modern technology. People can be very anti social. It is really quite sad.

  • I hate it when people are so rude and talk on their phones while being served in retail, they have no manners!

  • I find it so rude! I was in the bank and one man was on his phone talking so loudly. When he was called by the teller he didn’t even stop his conversation and just passed papers to the teller. She said ‘sorry sir, I can’t serve you when you are talking on your phone’. I have her a big approving nod. The man took his papers and left still talking away. I’ve noted in quite a few stores now that they have signs that say they won’t serve you if you are on your phone.

    • The teller was so good doing so. Maybe this is the only way that some people understand.

  • I notice that too. So annoying! There are people that really can’t live without their phone. Like it’s an extension of their body! ;-)
Some people are very inconsiderate! For example talking on the phone while they are paying at the supermarket. I don’t find it nice at all.

    • It is so rude to answer the call or talk when you are being served. I must admit to looking and shaking my head.

      • That is looking at them(people) and shaking my head!

      • I understood what you meant! Maybe more people should show they disapprove indeed.

  • Yes, it annoys the hell out of me, specially when they don’t look and walk into you. I used to dodge them, now I head straight for them! They need to be taught some manners

    • I have seen people looking at their phones trip over other kids! It is dangerous not to be aware of where you are walking.

  • Such a common problem – but it seems to be the way may choose to be. Perhaps as mothers, it is important that we remain disconnected from our phones in residence of kids as a good role model.

    • Yep! I agree I do not use my phone all of the time and not when out and when involved in activities. I do this because I just do not like it! I do not want to compete with a telephone. LOL! I am much more interesting than a phone! ;)
