This time in my life we thought we could travel ,after raising our 2 daughters .But 1 of our daughters ended up a drug addict.Sadly she had 3 beautiful children ,who got taken by welfare .We couldnt let that happen. to our grandies Raising grandchildren.so tricky trying keep up dated but we try ,kindy & school all over again ,teaching children the ways if life .Our 12 yr old girl is a blessing ,she helps with the other kids &never complains .We are lucky to have them around .It’s not there fault & it does hurt when Mum& Dads are involvedi in activities at school ,there’s Nan &Pop instead .We love our daughter but drugs rule her life ,sadly .But Grandparents are looking after their grandkids is more &more. 12yrs have passed & I wouldn’t change it .

  • I know of an Uncle and Auntie who fostered her sister’s children but under different circumstances. Thedy had been living with their Mum, then in care because she decided her priorities were different. Eventually their Dad took full custody of them, not the Mum.

  • They know they are loved which what means the most and they will turn out great kids with the love and things you as Grand parents are teaching them. Grand children are a much loved blessing..and it is becoming more and more the norm these days and good on the Grand parents that take them and start once more raising children

  • You are doing a wonderful thing. I wouldn’t get sad about nan and pop being there to help at school when it’s usually mum and dad, as it’s fantastic that the two of you are able to give these kids support, love and be there.

  • You took your grandchildren as a responsibility and commitment because love ruled in your life. You willingly put aside your own hopes and are giving your own future as a gift to these young ones. You and your husband are giving hope to them. I hope you will see them flourish under your care and that you will have health, strength and peace of mind to carry on until they are able to provide for themselves.
