To help save money I often purchase clothes from the op shop! This especially great for the kids as I find they grow so fast and often, many outfits get hardly any wear. I also look out for the secondhand uniform sales at school and try to co ordinate their wardrobes so there is no mismatched clothing not getting worn. Not buying new certainly makes sense and saves me money. Side note: with the savings from clothing, I buy good quality shoes.

  • I would love to buy clothes from an op shop. I’ve been a few times and found sone to be dirty places with yucky clothes. Or they’re light and bright places with over priced products

  • I Op shop regularly! I can’t justify spending big money on clothes they will grow out of so quickly! I also get quite a few hand-me-downs and I buy from FB buy and sell pages. I am picky with what I buy, looking for good quality clothing. I love it so much, I have started buying some of my own clothes this way! I have gotten so awesome bargains!

  • Also, I accept hand me downs from friends – and offer them to different friends with kids younger than mine.

  • Op shops are amazing value for money, plus you know the clothes are clean and in good condition. I check out Target too because their prices are good and, if they have a sale on, you’re quids in!

  • The treasures you can find in op shops is amazing! I love it! Could spend many hours just searching through. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

    • Searching for treasures and chatting with people including staff is half of the fun. It is actually a good community activity.

  • I think that is a smart way to keep the cost of a child wardrobe supplies down. Like yourself and many others here we avoid purchasing 2nd hand shoes.

  • Buying some items second hand does make sense and I do it all of the time. Like you; I purchase good quality shoes as we have feet in this household that are quite tricky to fit and that often means more expensive fitted shoes! :(

  • I’m not up to school uniforms, but we used to have a 2nd hand kids shop where you could buy and sell things. I took some near new stuff down and swapped it for more near new stuff. It’s a great way to save
