Hello!

My baby has been sleeping through for 2 months now but recently he’s started waking up twice at night. I just wonder why ? I’m not sure whether this has anything to do with his teething, because he hasnt started teething yet, I think another month or so . He’s 5 months old. Is there anything that’s troubling his mind ? Is he feeling alright ? or its just his sleep pattern change .

What do you suggest ?

  • well my middie told me that every now and then, they have growth spurts so they will be hungrier and wake more frequently etc.

  • It could just be a stage – they seem to go through sleping changes around 5-6 months. I find my son wakes when he’s cold. Sleeping bags worked to keep him covered and when he moved to a bed we got him a BedSok (fitted sheet sleeping bag) and it made all the difference.

  • They are really good questions. How frustrating to have him sleeping through the night for two months and then have him start waking twice a night again. It could be the beginnings of teething. With babies, it could be a number of things, a process of elimination for mum

  • Could be a developmental leap, has your baby started crawling or rolling or something??

  • There could be any number of reasons why could be teeth moving around, growth spurt, reaching milestones

  • My son started doing this at this age not sure why he did. He stop doing it after a few weeks. They say there is a sleep regression around this age but not so sure I believe in that

  • If you are using heating overnight to get rid of the chill in the air your little on might just be thirsty. My kids tend to wake up if i leave mine on overnight due to them wanting a drink or hearing the central heating turning on and off. He could also be having a growth spurt and needs a drink. Hope he settles down soon for you.
