Hello!

I have noticed more and more that the roads are getting busier and people are speeding. Today I was nearly involved in a collision due to someone speeding. Only quick reflexes and evasive action prevented a nasty collision. I do wish some drivers would take the time to slow down and respect the roads and other drivers.

  • It is a huge problem. Not only speed tho, you see so many drivers doing stupid things, risking lives……it’s ridiculous

  • I agree with this but also would like to make the point that a lot of drivers don’t respect pedestrians also. We have a pedestrian/ zebra crossing not that far from our home and I find car drivers would rather run over you than pull up (not that I walk out in front of them) there have been many folk that have been hit and I am actually waiting for a death to make the council install lights (do hope though a death does not occur but even huge yellow pedestrian signs don’t deter drivers. PLEASE BE MINDFUL AND RESPECTFUL and alert all the time.

    • oopps PS I also find in wet weather cars speed past pedestrians and sometimes I feel deliberately drive toward a puddle just to make a splash.

  • Couldn’t agree more. I hate traffic since everyone seems so stressed, rushing, going too fast…and all the little prangs I see in passing just confirm it…. Slow down! Be kind on the roads… especially around schools, especially in the busy times. Take a deep breath and try to contribute to world peace (at least on your bit of the road!)

    • Exactly – we should all do our bit to contribute to World Peace.

  • Getting to the destination safely is the most important outcome and not how quickly you get there. It is a huge responsibility when you are the driver of a vehicle and have other people in the car too, ultimately you are responsible for their safety. Slow down and obey the road rules, including speed limits and enjoy the journey.

  • We lived near 2 schools and 1 kindergarten. We lived in a street that one went through the middle of it and had stop signs, and the corner our end was a T-Junction. Very few cars stopped at the stop signs. A high % didn’t indicate which way they were turning. Some were in the middle of the road so it was difficult to anticipate whether they were going to turn left or right. The most frustrating part was that many were Mums taking their children to or from school. One car passed me one morning in an old without headrests on the seats with a child stretched across the top of the seat with his/her head fairly close to the dashboard of the car. Had the driver had to brake the child’s head would have slammed into either the dashboard or the windscreen. I felt sick in my stomach because I immediately realised how dangerous it was. What made it worse was the car was going quite fast around a blind corner – in the middle of the road.

  • I am so with you on this. Everyone is in too much of a hurry they just don’t care. It’s a big issue around schools St pick up and drop off times
