Hi MoMs xx

So, tonight I finally took the plunge and visited my Doctor to talk about handling depression. First step! I think its hard for many of us to seek out help when we are struggling. But, today I decided that enough was enough :) Its hard to see other mums photos of them constantly smiling with their children and wondering if your normal…why your not always happy…or thinking.. whats wrong with me?? I would like to urge all mums.. if you are feeling down, strange, or just not your self…. please talk to some one. Let it out! There is more support around you than you think xxxx

  • Talking to an objective third party can help a person work out whether what they are feeling is common or requires attention. I think it’s important to seek help if you feel something’s not right.

  • You have taken this big step, I salute you for this and I am sure you sharing will bring encouragement to others. You will never know it but even if only one person is saved because you have reached them it is such a wonderful gift.
    God bless you.

  • Increasing activity levels and participating in pleasurable experiences can help reduce depression.

  • Sometimes it feels like I have to become a machine and just do what mummies are supposed to do, but there are moments when you get emotional and you don’t know why at the time, but it all gets you down at times because it piles up and I think it’s important to have a really good friend to talk to like a Bestie.

  • Good on you for taking the first step. Depression is still such a taboo topic. When you have a child, your world really does change, and it’s not all sunshine and roses. Many mums (myself included) do not like to admit that motherhood can be a tough gig. I struggled when my second was born. When I finally opened up to my husband how I was feeling, he urged me to speak to my doctor. After talking to her, I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

  • Thank you for sharing. I always have ‘down’ moments. No mum is always happy! It is always hard and challenging and sometimes just down right awefull! We have to be real, and say that we do feel like this instead of hiding because we need to be a woman who does everything. We are human.
