So upset - Real Mum story on MoM

My little one adores going to playgroup. A few weeks ago the half yearly fees were due. Gulp. Where were we going to find it?

I spoke to the lady who runs it, and she very kindly allowed us to pay it off over three installments.

We made the first one, but were short for the second installment, so agreed to pay the remaining amount the following week.

We made sure she had all her meals etc, but we took turns to go without meals, and cut back on shopping etc to find the money.

At our playgroup there is a letterbox on the wall, so the lady who runs it can collect any messages etc each week.

As I put our envelope in, I had a moments hesitation, but then thought “Don’t be silly, of course it will be ok.”

I found out yesterday some awful person helped themselves, and our money was gone.

I am so upset a parent would do that to someone else. and I really feel like showing up at every session this week to see if I can find the culprit.

Has anyone else come across such petty theft from other parents?

How awful! Are you able to pay by another means ie. Electronic bank transfer.

no. i sent some money to school with my child and the teacher left it on their desk. Someone stole it but the teacher covered to replace it.

Sorry to hear this, no I can’t recall off the top of my head having dealings like this with other parents. Did the playgroup manager call the police?

thats horrible you wouldn’t think a mum would do this. our letterbox at kindy has a lock. you can put a lot of money in there.
