I am needing advice or tips to help keep my motivation levels up. I start a diet, with motivation levels high, the exercising is fun and the weight loss, although slow, happens. Then after I start to see results i justify to myself that i deserve a treat. This treat suddenly starts me on the downhill to going straight back to where i was before i started. Half of me is telling myself to get back into it and the other half just talks myself out of it. how do people keep going?

  • I am exactly the same. Exercise for an hour and sit and devour a lackey of chips. Difference is, my motivation levels are nearly non existitant. So I’m resigned to the fact of not losing weight, but hopefully I do enough to not gain anymore

  • JUMP off the diet roundabout. Eat well and get plenty of exercise – it the only way too do it. Good luck.

  • I have the same problem the only way to do it is to stay strong and not give into that first treat or better yet do not have treats in the house so they are not readily available

  • I give myself permission to have a treat as long as the majority of the time I’m eating and exercising well.

  • find someone who wants to do it with you.. motivate each other.

  • Try not to see it as dieting rather than starting a healthier lifestyle for the long run. That means you only need to make a few changes at a time. FOr example, start having more greens for lunch. Do this for a few weeks then add in more healthy changes slowly. Not those sudden big change diet that requires only a few weeks to see results because chances are you will fall back after the dieting perios is over.

  • you can have a treat but don’t beat your self up when you do and give up when it has caused you to gain a little you just keep going and allow you self a treat even if you say once a month I can have this and continue after most people have that treat see a gain beats them selves up than give up. my weight goes up and down by 3 kgs often but I don.t care as I will not deprive myself of something and beat myself up over it as I am only human. I am sitting here drinking coke at the moment but I want it so I shall have it I could stop buying it but I won’t it is my pleasure. I have lost around 60kg if not more I only know at least that as I was weighed in hospital and had already lost some. Now I go between 47kg and 50 kg this is also with under active thyroid as we as I am on B12 injections and other problems. The problem always starts when people say I can’t have
