I eat sushi around 4 days a week, just wondering how healthy it is? I eat the salmon and avocado, prawn and avocado and teriyaki chicken rolls. Its so delicious. But I don`t really know how healthy it is for me.

  • I think they’re pretty healthy. Even healthier when you make them yourself. No additives, preservatives, salt and sugar etc

  • Sushi is so good to eat and far better than alot of takeaway availble not to mention less fat.

  • Also; prawn and avocado is my favourite too!

  • Sushi is good for a quick meal.

  • its actually very healthy, the seaweed is full of protein and lots of other minerals and the rice helps keep you full and then the fillings are usually quite healthy or at least not unhealthy.

  • My concern with sushi is the storage. I never buy at the end of the day. Otherwise I would consider it a healthier option.

  • I agree with another mum that said they are a better option than McDonald’s etc in terms of a takeaway food. The glutinous white rice apparently isn’t as good for us as we think if you’re trying to diet etc, but honestly I still think they are a better choice when on the run than most things available. I would steer clear if pregnant though. The storage, hygiene and temperature are paramount when dealing with sushi.

  • I believe they are quite healthy as long as they are stored properly and are fresh but also read not to eat them while pregnant!

  • I expect it’s like most things – healthy in moderation.

  • It stored properly at a cold temperature, I think they are pretty healthy, especially compared to some other take away. Some probably contain more salt than others depending on the flavours. Also white rice isn’t always the best, but you can sometimes get brown rice sushi and its delicious.

  • i recently read an article about how its not as good for us as we think!! something to do with the rice process. i can’t find the link though. but everything in moderation i say :) !

  • I would be wanting to know how long have been made for and at what temp are they kept and how often do they check the temp as it does not take much to spoil fish. If you are making them I would say go for as fish is great for you but buying them out I have to many reports about sushi so I would have a lot of questions I would be asking before buy and even more question if it was for a child

    • I have asked a few questions, they are made fresh every day where I get mine from and they do regular temperature check throughout the day.

  • I always thought they were healthy and very happy that my son chooses them over Mcdonalds. We eat them whenever we go down to the shopping centre.

    • They most certainly are better that mc donalds.
