This is more of a vent I guess. I love my MIL she is my family now but there are times where she drives both me and my partner bonkers she never listens to us she will bribe our daughter when she chucks tantrums and gives her anything she wants just so my daughter does not crack up mind you she is only 2. She will still give her baby food and a morning bottle when I have told her she doesn’t have any of that anymore ( sinse 10 months old) she lies to me about stuff she does with my daughter cause she knows I don’t like it, she had nappy rash once not very bad cause I ran out of cream and I put it on religiously every day I told her she had nappy rash when I left for work and said I would stop in the shops on my way home and get more. So why I was at work she took her to the doctors with out me knowing cause she was freaking out over 1 little and I mean little pimple on her bum. This is only the start I think she thinks it’s the daughter she never had but I can’t tell her to take a step back cause I am greatful for all the help but she never does things how we do with our daughter and it gets frustrating.

  • Mother in laws tend to always get on our nerves in one way or another.

  • I was told by a wise older woman once, when it comes to in-laws treat them a bit like kids, pick your battles and don’t sweat the small stuff. I try so often to do this with my in-laws and remind myself this is all the grandparents my kids have

  • Ignorance is bliss. I am a mum, MIL and a Nan. Let’s just say what happens at nans stays at nans. I wouldn’t make anything an issue regardless that MIL never had a daughter she still knows what she is doing. Unless you can see that your daughter isn’t thriving then I would let it all go.

  • I think this must be the MIL’s role when it come to our kids. Mine is the same & I don’t want to make it into a big issue of it but yup it drives you crazy :)
