Hello!

So my first pregnancy was ideal, I ended up with no complications & had a pretty normal natural delivery & gave birth to a healthy baby girl. I admit the actual birth was horrendous, 25+ hours in labour, gas, epidural, in the bath, out of the bath, lost heart beat, found heart beat, few stitches & long recovery “down there” but the experience of it all was amazing & I felt that I really worked for it.

Our second child, a different story – difficult pregnancy, high blood pressure & breech meant I ended up with a ceasarian at 38weeks. I was completely freaked out by the whole process, sterile theatre & all the people in the room. After the spinal block I even tried to get off the operating table as I couldnt stand sensation. The recovery however was much faster than the natural birth & I have war wound to remind me of it! My main issue with it was that when they passed my beautiful baby boy to me it felt like a present, such an odd feeling that didnt pass for a number of weeks.

  • Totally different birth experiences – no two are the same.

  • It’s funny how things can be so different even when the essential ingredients are the same. Same mum, dad, environment etc yet completely different children and births :/
