Hello!

I am such a summer fan but i am so happy to have some cooler weather around. As the years go by i just love different things about each season. Summer i love to spend our days sitting on the beach, cold ciders, BBQ’s for dinner and eating all our meals outside. Spring is full of fresh flowers and the sunshines bright….Autumn and winter i used to hate the gloomyness but now i just love a good stormy night and listening to the sound of the rain and wind tucked up safely in bed.
Its starting to cool off in my part of Oz here now and i am LOVING the fire weather. Hubby and i spent 2 days back and forth chopping firewood out bush (we can collect from designated areas) Our wood shed is now stocked and my pot belly fire is blazing!!! Nothing beats curling up on the couch in front of a fire :)

  • Same same. I love winter. The fire, the rain, being snuggled inside. Not so much of a summer person. Don’t cope well will the warmth

  • I used to live in the north where there was only 2 seasons. Since moving to the south I’ve grown to love the changing of the 4 seasons.

  • No not for me at all. I love summer and I love the warm. I already have the winter blues.

  • I would give anything for a wood fire. My gas heater just doesn’t seem to do much at all.

  • I’m the same as you love the summer but nothing beats getting the wood in the wood burner I love the smell and the heat is wonderful.

  • I love our fire too, there is something special about sitting in front of the fire, listening to the rain outside.

  • Ooh lucky you! I have always wanted a little house with a ‘real’ fireplace, not those gas ones!

  • Waking up in the morning to a thick fog, or to a freezing cold, crisp day with ice on the ground – lovely!

  • I love the cold and I love the rain as I love that it gives us water greens up the grass and give my plants a loving drink. The hotter months are not so kind to me as I stay home alot due to I pass out all the time in the heat. I really love the way you have described the season

  • Wow – the imagery in your post is like something out of an Australiana poem! So lovely and uniquely Australian (and I couldn’t agree more about the cold weather – the heat actually got to me this year!)

  • I totally agree with you. This is going to be our first winter in Tasmania and I can’t wait to put the fire on :) although it’s pretty cold at the moment so I’m not sure how we’ll go in winter! I think it reached 1 degree the other morning…I can only assume this means we’ll reach the negatives in winter. Lol it’s a little different to sunny Queensland! Still loving it though :)

  • I love warm days when I don’t have to worry about heaters, and taking a jacket and umbrella and just feeling cold. So I always dread winter and the shorter days. But the other night, while eating a yummy soup, my husband said he loves our seasons in Melbourne because we really get a change in our meals, we enjoy our casseroles and pies and all those yummy warming foods. So I agree there are good bits about winter.

  • I agree I love winter too it’s so nice to warm an cosy I love it when it snows the best.

  • We’ve got our fire going too… I think it makes a different from flicking on the heater to have a wood fire. Besides, we get to toast marshmallows :)
