Hello!

Every year for a long time we’ve rushed around at Christmas to visit both sets of parents and also other relatives. This year we decided that our three year old might enjoy being able to relax and we’d have Christmas at our place. We invited everyone and most people seem excited and happy with the decision….except my Mum! She is about the only close family member who has responded with ‘I’m not sure what we are doing yet’. I am so disappointed and it has taken some of the shine off of the planning to think that she won’t come.

  • Oh dear, sounds like she’s being difficult! Wouldn’t hurt her to do what you’ve done in the past if she has to….for once. It’s just hubby and me this year, our kids are away and no one else wants us around

  • I can imagine you are disappointed by your mother’s reaction. As we got old, we are often stressed out by changes in our usual routine. I hope she will have time to think about it and decide to come at your place.
Success with the organization of the day! :-)

  • This is not an unusual Christmas issue. We have our own special christmas breakfast – just us at home and then by the time Christmas Lunch comes around we are happy to head off to Grandparents houses for the remainder of the day. We have tried to relocate Christmas away from Grandparents, but they love it at their place and as they get older, it will, in time, pass on to others. I am glad that everyone else is happy to come to your place – it will be fine – just don’t hassle the Grandparents – give them time to discuss with their own friends.
