With my hubby been out of work for a couple of months, I’ll say things have been pretty rough. But I was lucky enough to get offered an extra shift on Sunday rates.. Super excited… 10 1/2 hours on penalty rates.. That shift would solve my rego – due in 2 weeks AND 1/2 of our water bill! What a relief…
I finished my shift at 5am Monday morning & discovered my car had been broken into.. Two smashed windows, glass everywhere, my glove box completely missing as the centre console.. My heart sank.. In doing what I thought was ‘helping’ the family turned out to be the opposite..
$800 insurance excess. If I had $800 I would’ve already paid my rego & water & rates… My daughters carseat was broken as well completely snapped the top off, and no, insurance doesn’t cover that either.. It’s not a fixed feature.. Also I realised they had stolen my toll pass, of course I rang to cancel it & was then stung with a $50 bill, for the loss of their equipment.
I’ve had many tears & feel so guilty for picking that shift up. I’ve since been paid so my car is drivable (for the next few weeks anyway), I’ve borrowed a spare carseat thankfully from a good friend. But we’re now back in the same position…
I know to many it may seem like a minor inconvenience, these low life’s have no clue how this has affected my family. Seriously, it’s not worth having nice things or in my case working..
