He may always have held his hand like that. You can only see the tip of one finder on his other hand. To be honest I don’t take a lot of notice of hand signals as in motorsport in open wheeler cars drivers don’t have radios and use hand signals. Bear in mind that “hand” signals mean different things in different countries.
