The Grandma could have taken the baby into the hospital and left it, not dumped her.
Baby boys are preferred over than girls too. I wonder if the Grandma will be charged at all.

This sort of thing would never happen in Western culture, but other cultures don’t have as high a regard for life as we see it, and certainly not in China.

That is just shocking. Not many people would react that way.

no one wants their teenager to have a baby but no one should ever do that to an innocent baby, I don’t care what your culture is, the baby is innocent

So inhumane and cruel. How could you do that as a patent, grandmother and human being.

such a sad situation,i believe in china you can bring disgrace to your family having a child not married and so young such a shame in this day and age this is still happening,i hope the grandmother came to her senses and helped her daughter and grandchild,i hope the little baby gets to live a beautiful life.

Such a sad situation for all concerned. I hope the mother has shown remorse for such a dispicable act.

As sad as this is, it occurred in China and the story removes the context of culture and law. The story is drafted to shock the western world, after all we are taking about a part of the world who removed the documented history and pretends certain events never occured. And this probably wouldn’t be an issue if China didn’t have such tough population control, it seems this grandmother is highly traditional and in her way wants the best for her daughter. Whilst I don’t agree with this behaviour the daughter would have bought great dishonour to the family. Sadly the result probably would have been different if the baby was a boy.

Disgraceful. This doesn’t show much love for your own daughter. You may be upset that she was pregnant and she didn’t know, but she shouldn’t take it on the baby. Her daughter needs help and support.

This sort of thing is just part of the day in China. Human life, animal life, it’s all nothing to them. I pity the poor, tiny, defenceless baby. So very sad for this innocent human

I could understand her mother being angry and shocked but that is no excuse for throwing the baby away. Imagine the trauma the girl was going through. Hope the mother and baby get the help they need.

Even coming from China, this is such despicable behavior, and such a tragic story – so pleased the girl and baby are getting help!

How terribly sad for everyone involved, sad for the daughter and the baby and for the grandmother too. Let’s hope they all get the care and support they need and that the new baby receives love and care.

Poor baby and poor girl who would have felt so embarrassed and shocked. I can’t imagine this reaction to a new born 🙁 Glad they will be ok

Would The grandmother have been in shock which explains her erratic behaviour or perhaps she’s just a horrible person. Poor baby, lucky someone helped her. Poor girl she could have died as well but the emotional turmoil would have been huge. Terrible situation.

  It is such a sad situation and it would appear that maybe some shock involved. Let’s hope time and help make a difference to the situation.
