The $8 rubber broom from Kmart has mums singing its praise.

Kmart mums are claiming the broom works better than a vacuum cleaner for removing pet hair from rugs and carpet.

One woman thrilled by how effective broom is took to Facebook to reveal that previously she’d only ever used it on tiled areas of her home.

‘I thought I’d give it a go on my carpets AFTER vacuuming!,’ she explained before adding: ‘Shocked to see how much dog hair I could get up with this little beauty.

‘I feel rubbish thinking my carpets were clean with the vacuum.’

Another said it had been a godsend in her home, and she said it had worked wonders at removing rabbit hair from her carpet.

‘This Kmart rubber broom has been great, it’s bloody hard work and makes me sweat but the result is great,’ she wrote.

‘We have a black rabbit who is absolutely gorgeous but loses a lot of hair. Bonus the rug feels better after a good sweep too.’

Another shared how the device had worked wonders in removing stubborn dog hair from the back of her car.

‘Kmart rubber broom worked a treat getting all the dog hair out of my car and boot. 10 times quicker than vacuuming.’

Worth a shot!

  • I’ll have to get myself one of these, it’s a pain to always set up the vacuum cleaner.

  • This is the same concept as the squeegee so probably also good for occasional cleans but not regular use.

  • Oooo I want to try this on my rug !

  • Would have loved this idea before but we now have wood floors right throughout the house. Who would have thought that a cheap broom could be better than a vacuum cleaner?

  • I wonder if it has any negative affect on the carpet fibres. There is special covers you can put on your car seats that you can pull out and clean separately. They are possibly washable. Some of them have waterproof backing on them in case your dog gets wet getting in the car in bad weather or has an “accident” or gets car sick. We had a dog was sick in the car once. I think you can get cover you can cut to size to fit your boot too.

  • A great share. We have a dog who doesn’t shed is fur so we wouldn’t need this item but love it for some friends.

  • Amazing how much she removed after vacuuming !

    • Glad I don’t have a carpet though, we have tiles. We vacuum daily in the evening and I mop the floor every morning before everyone is up.
