Coles has announced a new promotion that shoppers are totally loving.

The major supermarket chain has announced a new promotion where customers can claim FREE fresh food containers with every shop.

Shoppers can earn one container credit for every $20 they spend with the initiative – and there are five sizes to collect.

The containers are leak-proof, microwave safe, dishwasher safe, freezer safe and BPA free.

They come in five sizes and range from 10 – 18 credits to claim your free container.

600ml – free with 10 credits

1-litre – free with 12 credits

1.2-litre – free with 14 credits

1.4-litre – free with 16 credits

1.5-litre – free with 18 credits

Comments include:

– “That’s a promo I can get around!”

– “This is a good one. Finally one for the mums!”

– “About time they offered something practical and for adults! Yay”

  • Something for the money you are going to spend anyway but its amazing how people will still complain

  • Seems like people aren’t loving it so much anymore. I still don’t see the problem, you spend the money anyway.

  • So far, I have 15 credits. Enough for the smallest container and the pump. Go me!

  • Wow people get worked up over these promotions. They’re not compulsory and just shop as you normally would.

  • I’m for it. I prefer to use re-usable plastic so it’s finally something I can get behind.

  • This is a terrible promotion. We shouldn’t be encouraging more use of plastic. Already over used majorly. Offer something quality like glass containers. Another reason for me not to shop at coles.

  • I quite like this one, a good eco friendly promotion too.

  • That’s a much better gift than anything else they usually promote

  • Well it is certainly different, cheers.

  • Oh I need them to hold food for my baby when we head out, I need something to hold grapes, chopped melons, sandwich etc and the plastic sleeves aren’t good enough because we always squash them

  • I so don’t need anymore plastic containers ! I’d love free fresh food – now that would be a promo I’d enjoy 🙂

  • awesome idea! Just got the email this morning from FlyBuys and while I don’t really need any I love free stuff and shop there anyway so it’s nice to be rewarded.

  • Just another marketing stunt to get people into spending money at Coles. I’m not in need of more plastic.

  • If I end up with some of these while doing my normal shop I will be happy, but I won’t go out of my way to end up with them.

  • Just another sales pitch to get customers coming back Coles is expensive I can still shop at Woolworths and buy a container which will cost me less than shopping at Coles

  • One for the adults which is useful and worth working towards. If you are just doing your normal shopping you usually do you then it’s like a free bonus for mums or adults that have a use for the containers. Much better than little useless mini items or collecting cards or toys for the kids. About time Coles thought of us for a change.

  • This is way better than small plastic toys.

  • I’m not loving this promo at all. It would be cheaper to but the containers without the groceries. You have to spend so much to get so little. Won’t be shopping there for them

  • I have’s seen this week’s catalogue yet. Do you have to spend a lot on groceries each time or do they have a method of keeping a record of what you spend over a number of weeks. A single person would not spend much each week, especially if they live on a large block of land and have fruit trees or grow some of their own vegetables – there is some you can grow in pots and some kids do it as a hobby.

  • Saw this in the catalog today. To get a 16point container u would have to spend $320 to get the item “free”. I’m all for the usefulness of the containers but it’s a bit pricy! And do they work as well with the vacuum pump thing? Also it’s more plastic.

    • I will need to look at the finer detail if this is the case!

      • But you don’t have to change your shopping habits. Just do your usual shopping and if you collect enough points for some containers, it’s just a plus.
I got my first 2 points today. 🙂

      • I was thinking something similar spend $200 for a 600mL container when I can buy one for a fraction of this. No thanks. Okay if you shop at Coles every week but I don’t.
