Hello!

Whether you’re raising a budding scientist, have a gaggle of curious kids, or just love a great family day out, these two free events need to be added to your calendar!

Back by popular demand, Greater Sydney Parklands is hosting two events to celebrate National Science Week, over two jam-packed days. There’ll be more than 30 activity stations to spark curiosity and ignite imaginations, at Western Sydney Parklands and Centennial Park.

Both events are a chance for kids to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of science, through hands-on experiments and live performances. They’ll be having so much fun, they won’t even realise how much they’re learning!

Science in the Scrub will be held at Lizard Log, Western Sydney Parklands on Sunday 11 August and Science in the Swamp is taking place at Loch Avenue South, Centennial Park on Sunday 18 August.

What can you expect at Science in the Scrub and Science in the Swamp?

Buckle in for some fabulously exciting (and FREE!) fun with a science twist. With more than 30 activity stations there’s literally something to see and do around every corner.

Across both events highlights include meeting Ginger, the life-sized Australovenator dinosaur (a very popular returning guest!).

Dr Graham’s Blow Up Science Show is expected to be a crowd favourite with Dr Graham exploding his way through the chemistry and physics of things that go bubble, boom, zoom, bang and occasionally catch on fire.

Kids can turn their hand to designing, making and flying a mini helicopter, with help from the Cool Aeronautics team of aeronautical and space engineers.

Take a breather and watch the Rooftop Bees go about their busy work in an observation hive (and of course taste a range of honey!).

There’s also something for kids who are fascinated by robotics and animals, and there’ll be food trucks aplenty to satisfy appetites.

For those heading to Science in the Scrub, there’ll be a special presentation of Indigenous Science, where kids will be able to participate in hands-on science experiments with the team from Macquarie University’s National Indigenous Science Education Program.
