A home baker has given us the giggles when she shared her hilarious unicorn cake fail when she attempted to recreate the Coles unicorn cake.

Making a Unicorn cake can’t be too difficult surely! Coles seems to manage to bake perfect fondant-covered cakes featuring the mystical animal horn and ears, so it’s worth giving this a go at home.

Laura Jayne, a keen home-baker from Perth decided to copy the Coles’ $25 Unicorn cake and attempt to make her very own version.

The results, which she shared on a Facebook group, had us in stitches.

Nailed It!

“We were pretty sure we could buy a packet mix from Coles and replicate the unicorn cake. I personally think the resemblance is uncanny,” Laura wrote.

The photo showed a mess of a cake featuring melty pink icing on a vanilla base, with pieces of chocolate acting as the ears and the horn.

“Nailed it!” read one of the comments.

Unicorn Cake Fails

The unicorn cake is a popular one that home-bakers try and recreate in their own kitchen. Some are impressive, but more often than not, the result is a hot mess.

A little while ago, we shared a picture of an ‘evil’ Unicorn cake, that had gone very wrong.

‘Looks like an evil cat,’ one commenter said, ‘but it will taste great I’m sure!’

While another was quite forthright: ‘This is what nightmares are made of.’

I don’t think I’d try. I’ve never used fondant before and I’m not very good at moulding stuff, even with play dough so I’d definitely fail at this.
