A Unicorn Cake gone evil has sent the online baking world a-buzzing.

The popular unicorn cake has become a bit of a challenge for home-bakers as many have attempted to perfect the creation and share it online.

However, one amateur baker recently tried to make the cake using supermarket mudcakes and produced something which has been described as: a ‘terrifying’ creation complete with a red eyes, a clown-like mouth and a wonky horn, as reported in the Daily Mail.

The woman shared a photo of her attempt on facebook saying:

‘My unicorn attempt lol! All suggestions welcome. Thankfully, this was a trial,’ she wrote on Facebook alongside a snap of the failed cake.

The ‘evil’ Unicorn Cake

As usual, comments were a mixed-bag. Some praised her efforts, while others had a laugh at her expense.

Kirsty commented ‘Omg this has made my night, I’m laughing so much I’ve got tears.’

Lauren said: ‘It’s great! My hubby’s even laughing.’

Pennyann giggled: ‘My gawwwd that’s funny… Unicorn from hell …’

This Is What Nightmares Are Made Of

There was a bit of a debate of what the cake actually looked like. Suggestions included a ‘cat with a tail’ and Spiderman and many commented that the cake looked evil and would be perfect for Halloween.

‘Looks like an evil cat,’ one commenter said, ‘but it will taste great I’m sure!’

While another was quite forthright: ‘This is what nightmares are made of.’

But it’s ‘made with love so it’s awesome in my opinion.’

Have you ever made a cake that turned out not as expected? Tell us in the comments below.

  • I’ve only ever made one cake in my entire life and it was for my bubs first birthday. It looked okay but was rather dry inside lol.
This is why I stick to baking cupcakes as they are so much easier!

  • I get all the feels from this!

  • I think my attempt at a Unicorn cake a few years ago was worse

  • Absolute love it, A for effort ! Hahahaha

  • The baker has a good sense of humour; keep trying, and thanks for the laugh. I’m sure this will be a fond family memory in tears to come.

  • Bet it still tasted wonderful and there was none left over.

  • This looks so good!!

  • Oh dear. The kids will still like it. Party photos may be disappointing.

  • Yep that’s a bit of a fail- it’s the thought that counts!

  • Haha, this is why I buy cakes and don’t attempt such creations!!!

  • Luck it was a trial. At least the baker can have a laugh.

  • I’ve made a few that have turned out totally opposite of what they were meant to be. Tried making a UFO and it ended up looking like it had crash-landed. The kids all loved it so the day was saved. I applaud this Mum’s efforts to make the cake. May not look the way she wanted but bet it tasted perfect. As they say – back to the drawing board

  • Yep, I’ve managed to make some weird and wonderful creations too!

  • Oh yes.So many times. But it didn’t fail the taste.

  • Lol, as long as it tastes good ;)
