I really wish this article was still complete, I need all the tips I can get before Christmas travel!

Mine normally zonk out hard on car trips but having music, snacks and games is helpful

I have set rules in my car. If we are travelling for more than 30 minutes, the kids can watch a movie or play with one of their electronic games. Around 20 minutes they can read a book. 10 minutes and under and they can just look out of the window.

I’ve travelled across country a couple of times with little ones. My son was only 9 weeks old the first time he traversed Australia. It’s worrying but definitely doable

It’s not easy travelling with kids but at the end of the day you get there, everyone survives. It’s important to keep the end result in mind, makes it easier to get there

I think taking regular breaks is a must and making sure the kids are able to have a nap. Otherwise it can be hell for everyone!

We’re about to go on extended travel with our little guy searching for every bit of advice we can find.

Travelling with children certainly does have its challenges. Don’t let them put you off though, get out there and enjoy

I don’t have small children any more. When I did we did a few trips from Tas to WA and back agsin, mostly on my own, we had fun

Don’t forget to be kind to yourself and take a break every 2 hours or so and change drivers if you can. Fatigue is very dangerous. If your little ones are quiet, they are not talking to you to keep you alert. In towns are good spots as you can go to the toilet if any of you need to. Little ones get very cranky when they need to go to the toilet and are either part or completely toilet trained.

I didn’t have too many problems travelling with children. I travelled interstate with 2 small children, on my own, a couple of times with no hassles

Make sure your baby/toddler/child’s head doesn’t “roll” either partly or completely out the side of their babyseat or booster seat. Even without a mishap of any kind you child can get a sore neck/shoulders or headache from this. They then can’t tell you waht the ptoblem is ans all get stressed from the crying.

Be prepared for anything that might happen.. because it most likely will happen!
