Nuby Australia have issued an urgent recall for the NUBY silicone ortho pacifier.

A statement from the company warns parents that due to the shield size the dummy can become lodged in a child’s throat and possibly block the airways.

“At Nuby Australia, the safety of our customers and their families is our highest priority.

“This is why we’ve decided to conduct a voluntary recall of the Nuby Silicone Ortho Pacifier 2 Pack 0-12m, due to a safety issue.

“This item was available for purchase between September 2018 and May 2019 inclusive. We recommend you stop using the item immediately and contact us as soon as possible.”

PROBLEM: The pacifier can become lodged in a child’s throat and potentially cause a blockage in the air passage.

DEFECT: The pacifier does not comply with Australian standards. Of particular concern is the size of the shield which has capacity to block the airways of a young child.
