My husband is actually a great supermarket shopper but I have heard horror stories from other wives, the struggle is real.

How’s your husband at supermarket shopping?

  • I am the husband and I can sniff out bargains way better than the wife.

  • Don’t even like taking my hubby shopping – always end up with things I didn’t want in my shopping trolley as he thinks he might like them. lol

  • Yes, some are good at finding a bargain, including meat that has been marked down but is still before the use by date.

  • Depends who’s paying.

  • I prefer to do the shopping myself. That way I only get what I need. If he does shop he will buy prawns, crayfish, oysters and anything else that he likes. If he’s with me he says things like “Do we really need that?”. On the plus side, he always picks out the best of the fruit and veges.

  • The worst is when they ONLY buy wha’ts on the shopping list. Even if we have not had an everyday item for a week (e.g., bread).

  • My hubby does 90% of the shopping. His only downfall is buying things that aren’t on the list to find that we already have 3 of that item in the cupboard.

  • My husband is great to do the shopping. Not as good as me, but great. He just sticks to the list. Tends not to deviate, or add the extra stuff that I do. He just works the list!!

  • Mine isn’t too bad I have to say.

  • i usually don’t use a shopping list but if i do i quite often just stick to it. As to my fruit & vegies i am more fussy than my wife. If i don’t like the look of it i won’t touch it. I have a background in horticulture & i was bought up in a fruit growing area. We never buy our fruit & vegies at Woolworth’s or any other supermarket for that matter (been stored too long buy them) We always go to the greengrocer way fresher & cheaper, & yes we make a special trip once per week to go to the fruit & vegie shop in Highpoint (near David Jones)

  • grocery shopping is my time off, he isn’t allowed hahah

  • Spare me, I don’t want to let my hub doing the groceries anymore. He doesn’t look what he buys and comes home with rotten tomatoo’s and strawberries who’ve gone off.

  • I didn’t realise how literal they could be when shipping with a list. They literally come home with NOTHING else.

  • OK, I have to say my hubby is fantastic at the supermarket but does call me a lot of times just to see if I need some extra things he sees and thinks I may like or need.
