If I could ask my 80 year old self what I was glad I left my children, you might be surprised at the answers.

It wouldn’t be piles of money.  It wouldn’t be piles of jewellery and it hopefully won’t be a big bunch of debt!

What I’d like to leave my children is far less material.  Less stuff and more life skills.

My dream is to raise my children to be beautiful humans who raise families who embrace the knowledge that our life, our family and our friends are a gift. Humans who care for everyone as well as themselves. Humans who want to leave the World a better place.

Under these very big, very beautiful goals are another set of life skills I hope to leave with my children, their children and fingers crossed, my great grandchildren.

A set of skills that underpin every day of every life. The ability to read, write and understand all things related to numbers. Once a child has mastered these three areas of knowledge, the future is theirs.

So rather than leaving it all up to teachers, carers and everyone other than me, I decided to make a start on these skills before school with ABC Reading Eggs. I started years ago when ABC Reading Eggs was very new but it was immediately embraced and adored by all of my children.

  • I’ve bought reading eggs for my 3 year old. She finds it fun and I like that she’s learning. I figure it’s better to play on that when we’re out and about rather than you tube or something else that isn’t quite as educational.
