Hello!

Mums all over the internet are sharing photos of their special keepsakes they have created with their umbilical cords.

Mum’s are styling their umbilical cords in heart shapes, spelling out their children’s names, dream catchers, making beads from them and even framing them.

While the umbilical cord is still fresh,  you can design it into any shape, symbol, or word you want and then bake it at a low heat to dry.  Although one recommendation is to use a dehydrator for a much better result.

Would you do it?

  • This grosses me out a bit.

  • I don’t think this is art. If Mum’s want this then put it in the bedroom. I don’t think I’d be comfortable in a house with this as art. To me it’s cringeworthy

  • “Installation” is what I would call this art – to be enjoyed for very short time and then discarded. Yuk!

  • I think I’ll pass on this fad.

  • Its medical waste.
    A biohazzard material.
To me its to gross and just not sanitary.

  • They sure look pretty ! However I don’t know if I would like to eat my mango when this is placed on top of it.

  • We’d all agree ‘art’ comes in all manner of variations BUT this is not art! It’s gross!

  • Um no, I think I’ll give this one a miss!!

  • People can hang whatever they call “art” in their own home. I would not even think of doing this myself.

  • I wouldn’t do it but everyone is different. The one in the fruit bowl is a bit yucky though.

  • Each to their own I guess. Not something that I would be interested in.

  • This makes me a bit sick actually. I never even kept my children’s teeth. I like the idea of a lock of hair and the newborn footprint and handprints!

    Reply

  • Oh! I really like them. I wish I would have done that!

  • Whatever happened to just keeping a lock of hair? Personally, I find the umbilical cord idea icky.
