1. AUSTRALIA ZOO

Australia Zoo is packed full of amazing animals. This place is so big they recommend going for two days! Located on the Sunshine Coast, it’s definitely worth a visit. Children under 3 are FREE. See their website HERE for more information.

2. GO ON A CRUISE TO MORETON ISLAND

Dolphin Wild cruises depart Redcliffe daily and take you over to Moreton Island. The kids will have fun spotting dolphins, dugongs, turtles, (and whales in season). You can even get off the boat for some snorkelling or just to play on the beach on Moreton island. See their website HERE for more information.

3. THEME PARKS

No visit to Queensland is complete for kids without a trip to one of their theme parks located on the Gold Coast. There is SEAWORLD, DREAMWORLDWET N WILD and MOVIE WORLD. Check out their websites for more information to help you decide which one to visit.

4. KOALA SANCTUARY

At the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary Interact with 100 species of Australian animals, hand-feed kangaroos and wild lorikeets, or get cuddly with a beautiful koala. Children under 3 are FREE. See their website HERE for more information.

4. FOREST WALK

Right in the heart of the city you can take the kids on an amazing rainforest fern gully walk up high in the trees! FREE for everyone. See their website HERE for more information.

  • Thanks Jessica. I haven’t heard of the forest walk before and am excited to check it out next time we’re close to Brisbane. We’ve spent the holidays watching for free activities for the kids. The local free paper usually has a list, as does the local council, and facebook groups. We’ve been to Christmas carols, Christmas lights tours and Santa fairs, watched fireworks at the beach with a seaside markets beforehand, been to the Bunnings kids workshops, free local library activities, beach fun, and plenty more. Your other suggestions are fantastic, and ones we are saving for one special year. We went to Australia Zoo nine years ago and it was a full day back then before their extension and new attractions.

  • I’ve been to the Australia Zoo. Such a special place. I really loved it. I think that, when we went, Bindi just turned 13. She’s all grown up now. :-)
