At party each child gets to throw a dart to pop a balloon, once the balloon is popped they read out what letter is printed inside on a piece of paper. If the letter is from the birthday boy or girls name, they win a prize.

Material

  • 26 Balloons 2 different colours to make eyes
  • 26 Letters of the alphabet printed on plain paper
  • 1 Wooden board
  • 1 Tin spray paint to cover board (optional)
  • 1 Black marker to draw pupils
  • 1 Dart
  • 26 Pins

Method

  1. Spray wooden board colour theme of your party (optional).
  2. Cut out letters and add a letter inside every balloon before you blow them up.
  3. Pin balloons to the board putting 2 different colours in the centre and draw pupils on them.

Notes

My son had a yellow 3rd birthday party, we put it on top of a rubber mat all the kids enjoyed.

  • Great party game idea. Obviously for older kids with darts involved, but I love the idea

    • Kids can do it with adult supervision and one at a time. Kids play this game at shows and love it too!

  • Lets hope the kids aim is good!

    • That is exactly that I was thinking.

      • Out of about 20 kids only 2 were way off the rest were awesome kids varied from 3-9 years of age mums just helped some of the littlies. My son is 3 and he loved it and needed no help at all surprisingly very easy and kids were keen to have a second go lol

  • Was none of the kids afraid with all the popping? 🙂

    • Surprisingly none of them thankfully

      • Mabe not kids, but you may need to consider your pets too, and possibly those of neighbours. To them it would be like fireworks none of us want our animals trying to escape or succeed in doing so.
You could have different coloured spots or balloons and let them burst them with a knitting needle stadning close to them rather than a dart. If you are using board make sure it is soft enough for the dart to penetrate a bit, not ricochet and come back and injure somebody or damage items at all.
The idea of the alphabet is they learn the letters they have popped.
