A quick and easy sew to make a bunch of cute bandana baby bibs for your little one. It makes a great gift as well!

Material

  • Flanelette or towelling fabric
  • Cotton fabric
  • Thread in complimentary colour
  • Existing bib to trace
  • Kam snaps

Method

  1. Find your favourite banana bib and trace around it on a piece of paper or cardboard, adding a 1/4 inch all around for your seam allowance.
  2. Mark your pattern onto both of your fabric pieces and cut them out. At this point I also like to find a round cup and trace around a picture that I like on the flannelette fabric to use as a feature for the front of the bib.
  3. If you’re adding the flanellete to the front of your bib, stitch it onto the front of the bib now wherever you. I do this using a wide zigzag stitch with stitches close together to get a nice finish around the edge and prevent fraying.
  4. Put the cotton and flannelette right sides together and pin.
  5. Stitch around the outside of the bib using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving a gap of 2 inches for turning. Trim corners and clip curves.
  6. Turn the bib right side out and iron, being sure to iron your turning hole inside the bib with a clean edge.
  7. Top stitch around the edges of the bib, beginning with the turning hole to close it.
  8. Add Kam snaps to the back of the bib so you can clip it onto your baby, and you’re done!

Notes

If you don’t have a bib to trace, you can find plenty of free patterns online. Spoonflower has a good free one.
