Jean-Michel Cousteau

The Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, located on Vanua Levu island, is one of the best family resorts in Fiji, and won TripAdvisor’s award for #1 Eco-Resort Worldwide! As a 5-star luxury eco resort, Jean-Michel Costeau offers 25 luxurious bures, with all meals included and served in the al fresco restaurant just a few steps from the stunning Savusavu Bay beach.

In order for the adults to get the most out of their stay, this resort offers the complimentary Bula Club for kids in two programs. The Lei Lei program for 0-5 year olds assigns each child under 5 years old a dedicated nanny. The Marau program for ages 6-12 forms groups of five kids assigned to a buddy. The Marau program embodies the Costeau eco-resort philosophy of education and conservation. Kids will learn about Fijian culture, environmental conservation and other educational activities to learn about the world around them. They also have a swimming pool with waterslide, a kiddies’ pool with waterslide, a toddlers’ pool, a jungle gym, a zip-line, a trampoline, a sandbox, and an arts & crafts centre to fill your kids’ days with fun and learning. The Junior Chef’s program is also available for Marau Kid’s Club where kids experience the farm-to-plate concept following food from the resort’s own organic garden to your plate for dinner. Each program operates from 8am to 9pm so you can enjoy the most of your stay whilst knowing your kids are safe and happy.

With the kids are well and truly sorted, you can enjoy the myriad complimentary activities at one of the best family resorts in fiji. Jean-Michel Costeau offers complimentary glass bottom boat trips, Fijian storytelling, reef walks with the resident marine biologist, tennis, paddleboarding, kayaking, volleyball, and eco tours with the marine biologist, which includes a discovery tour of the coastal mangrove ecosystem where you can plant a seedling! There’s also sailing and a medicine walk with an elder to discover traditional medicines used by Fijians for thousands of years. And of course, you can snorkel straight off the pier or a short boat ride away in the beautiful Savusavu Bay marine reserve. If you need more relaxation than adventure, you can rest up at the resort’s luxury spa while the kids splash around in the pools.

Because this resort is located in a marine reserve, and Jean-Michel Costeau is dedicated to sustainable eco-tourism and environmental conservation, the diving here is spectacular. If you’ve never dived before, the Costeau dive center offers a 3-day certification course, and a Junior Marine Biologist course for kids! But if you’re already keen to get below the surface, then this eco-luxe resort is perfect for you.

  • We went to the Naviti resort in Fiji and it was the most wonderful and relaxing 2 weeks I have ever spent. All the children seemed to go in the children’s club which was varied to cater or different age groups. One hardly ever saw them and they were so well behaved if one did catch up .
Could thoroughly recommend this resort to any wanting to go there.
