Hello!

Our kids are counting down the sleeps to the action-packed annual fire station open day!

This year, Fire and Rescue NSW, will hold its open day on Saturday 18 May 2019 between 10.00am and 2.00pm.It’s a brilliant way to get a glimpse into Australia’s busiest fire and rescue service. Visitors will have the chance to hop on a fire truck and chat with firefighters to learn more about what they do every day.

Open Day includes safety demonstrations, fire station tours and the chance to inspect equipment and trucks used by the firefighters when responding to all kinds of fire and rescue emergencies.

There will also be lots of fun kids’ activities.

It’s a great opportunity to chat to firefighters about fire safety in the home, including how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan to ensure you can quickly and safely escape in the event of a fire.

To check out a participating firestation near you, visit the NSW Fire and Rescue website.

Where: At your local participating NSW Fire and Rescue station.
When: Saturday 18 May 2019
Time: 10am to 2pmCost: FREE

Important:

Please note that some fire stations will be closed or participating at a neighbouring fire station. Because communities across NSW rely on our help for so many reasons, you may get to your fire station on Open Day and it is closed while responding to an emergency. The station officers will leave a note on the door if this happens, to let you know.

  • My grandson would go berserk for one of these! Sadly, he’s not living in NSW. I might contact our local fire station to see if they might do something similar

  • SA has an open Day in the Adelaide CBD. I’m not sure about the Metropolitan ones. Various rescue groups including CFS and SES have displays/information tents at a lot of the country shows. One also had Police Bikes there on display. There was a few little ones were allowed to sit on them for parents etc to take photos.
