Popular TV and radio personality Carrie Bickmore has revealed that she and husband Chris Walker have decided to separate.

Both Carrie and Chris announced the separation on their Instagram stories, each saying the decision has been made with ‘immense sadness’.

“Whilst this is a tough time,” Carrie wrote, “Our focus is on parenting our three children Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything we’ve got. They are doing great.”

The pair met on the set of The Project in 2012, two years after Carrie lost her first husband, Greg Lange, to brain cancer. Chris became a stepfather to Carrie and Greg’s son Ollie.

Chris and Carrie then welcomed their first child together, Evie, in 2015, followed by Adelaide in 2018.

Last year they both took a long break from their TV roles to live in the UK for a school term. At the time, Carrie explained that they needed to take a break as a family.

“We feel like this is our last chance to do something like this together before Ollie hits the pointy end of his schooling and no longer wants to hang out with us so … we are heading to the UK for a school term,” she wrote.

At the end of the trip, Carrie wrote: “And so comes to an end the most incredible few months…. Was it perfect NO. Was it always easy NO. Was it worth it YES YES YES. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. I am just so glad we had a crack. Memories made that we’ll talk about forever”

  • Sad to have heard about this but looks like they are keeping things amicable for the kids.

  • More sad news from this camp – but it does sound like it is amicable and their going to look after their children together and do what is right for them. Good luck.

  • I wish them both all the best and that their children understand that this has nothing to do with them and that will always be loved by both parents

  • Feel sorry for them all. Breaking up in the public spotlight cannot be easy.

  • Breakups are always sad, especially when there are kids involved but it’s better than “staying together for the kids” as then they grow up thinking you need to just put up with things for the sake if other people’s happiness…

  • This is sad, but pleased to see that there is a lot of dignity from both. Very tough going through this when you are in the public eye

    • Indeed, public scrutiny would be tough.

  • I am so sad on hearing this news. I always thought they were so happy, but clearly you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. Such a sad day for all of them. I hope they navigate it okay and are left alone to work through this with their children.

  • Sometimes you can’t go on because of whatever. The worst thing you can do is stay and suffer good that they seem calm and are moving on which is the right thing to do I wish good things to all of them . It is a solid lesson for all

  • I think every marriage goes through struggles at about ten years. It’s a shame they don’t feel that they can get through this,

  • She has to do what is right for her. If it isn’t working and they don’t feel they can try any longer then that is their choice. I wish her all the happiness in the world, she is a lovely person.

  • That’s so sad to hear – but its their journey and no one knows what they went through!

  • It is always a shame when a relationship ends – even if it’s best for everyone, it’s still not what anyone hoped for when they started.

  • Hmmmm, life in the spotlight sure kills too many relationships. I wonder why??

  • What a shame but the kids come first and they will be fine.
