This $2 carpet cleaning hack will remove hair from your carpet and leave it good as new!

Sophie Hinchcliffe is the hairdresser turned cleaning queen who has taken social media by storm, with over 2 million Instagram followers addicted to her cheap cleaning hacks. Known as ‘Mrs Hinch’ online, her latest trick will remove all that pesky hair (human or otherwise!) from your carpet leaving it looking brand new.

Hidden Filth

Sharing her hack to her Instagram stories, Mrs Hinch used a $2 squeegee to scrape dust, dirt and hair from her carpets and the results were absolutely shocking. While the carpet looked clean at first glance, it turned out that there was plenty of filth lurking deep within – just a couple of scrapes revealed what the vacuum cleaner misses! Mrs Hinch said that the squeegee not only got beneath the surface of the carpet, but was also able to clean hard to reach corners and edges.

We think this incredible hack could be life changing for a household of hairy humans, particularly in areas like stairs and inside wardrobes where dust and hair seems to linger. It’s worth noting that Mrs Hinch recommends saving the squeegee for when you really need it as it could damage the fibres in carpets and furniture if used too often. So join the ‘Hinch Army’ and get cleaning!

  • Didn’t see the carpet cleaned? But I literally and basically saw everything else ;)
Bit worried about that sink clean though…..pretty sure it wasn’t connected.
No cleaning hacks here other than ignoing quite a bit of the cleaning.

  • I didn’t see any carpet being cleaned, but the other hacks are fantastic. I like the one to clean the door, which I assume you could use for walls too.

  • I like a little vanilla essence with white vinegar to clean with warm damp cloth on kitchen cupboards and bench sides. Then dry with paper towel or clean tea towel. Leaves a nice aroma.
Same for bathrooms but instead of vanilla essence I use eucalyptus oil for the cupboards and sides of bath.
A dab of methalated spirits on taps and around cleaned sinks will leave amazing shine. Use a clean cloth to buff up to shine!

  • Wish I could have watched this hack – only got ones on cleaning a stove, unblocking a sink and cleaning a mattress. Did anyone else have problems?

    • I saw the same video you did, cleaning a door, sink, stovetop and a mattress. The mattress one was quite clever and I may have to use it sometime!
But it would have been good to see the squeegee on the carpet hack!
