Looking for something to do these school holidays? How about a movie with some powerful messages? Thanks to JUMP! Swim Schools, you could win a family pass to see this school holidays’ most anticipated new animated DreamWorks movie, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
We’re giving away 3 x Grand Prizes, consisting of a family pass and a Ruby Gillman Merchandise Pack ($120 each) and 3 x Runners-up Merchandise Packs (valued at $50 each). Movie passes are redeemable at all participating cinemas.
This is a heartfelt action comedy about shy 16-year-old Ruby Gillman who discovers that she’s part of a legendary royal lineage of mythical sea krakens and that her destiny, in the depths of the oceans, is bigger than she ever dreamed. In addition to positive messages about embracing who you are this movie is a great reminder to kids about finding their confidence in the water, overcoming any fears and developing a love of water that will last a lifetime.
As we countdown to summer and expect higher than average spring temperatures across most of the country, JUMP! Swim Schools remind parents about being prepared.
“With this warmer weather coming, it could prompt families to enjoy water-based activities sooner than planned,” said JUMP! Swim Schools CEO Mark Collins.
“Our concern is that many kids may have taken a break from swimming lessons during winter and planned to return closer to summer – however this will leave a huge skills gap in the meantime. Remember, it only takes a week of missed lessons for children’s swimming skills to regress.
“We encourage parents and carers to be extra vigilant around water during Spring and be mindful that kids may not be swimming as strongly as they were last time they were in the water. If you’re spending time near the water with other family members or friends who may also be supervising your children, make sure they are also aware that your children’s skill levels may have slipped backwards.
“Also have the conversation with your children and talk about basic water safety, including not jumping into unknown water, not entering water without an adult and getting to the edge or floating until help arrives. Most importantly, when you can, get kids back to swimming lessons.”
