The luxury fashion designer told Novella 2000 that, “Sandra is doing fine, the baby, who was born a week ago right here in Florence, is beautiful and it was really emotional to see him right after he was born.”

He also revealed the meaning behind his son’s name.

“His name is Giorgio, like his grandfather, my father… whom the Nazis shot in the Cavriglia massacre when I was four years old.”

The octogenarian has two children with his first wife Silvanella Giannoni, Tommaso and Cristina. The pair were married for 10 years.

He also shares three children with his second wife, Austrian fashion designer Eva Maria Duringer; Robert, Rachele and Daniele.

Roberto had a difficult childhood, and is now overwhelming generous with his wealth. He gifted Sandra a private island in 2015, after the couple started dating in 2014.

  • I hope he is an active father to his son as being a father again at 82, wow!

  • Great achievement similar to another octogenarian in Charlie Chaplin. I do hope she doesn’t have to put up with all the gossip like Geraldine Chaplin had to do because people didn’t believe he was the father. Congratulations on the newborn.

  • This makes me sad people having kids at such an old age. It’s not nice for the kid

  • I totally get why his girlfriend would like to have a child, but it seems sad that his son will never really know him. Let’s face it, he’ll likely die before the boy could remember much.

  • Not sure how I’d feel about having a child at the age of 82. He sounds like he’s done well with his life though

  • Never heard of him. Hopefully he gets to grow really old and can see his child growing up and for the child to experience his dad

  • Congratulations to him and his partner. What an achievement to be a father at 82 .

  • I have absolutely no idea who this person is. Isn’t that a bit old to be having a kid? That poor child will not get to experience the same as other kids. Hope he makes a big effort with this kid as his time will be less than if he was younger.

  • I have no idea who he is but lets hope he’s an active and fun dad. Money isn’t everything.

  • Congratulations to them both. I’ve never heard of him but that’s nothing unusual for me.

    • I agree, often surprised at some of the names the ‘pop’ up!

  • Congratulations to them both :) A baby is always a blessing!

  • Never heard of this designer before this article, will research.

  • I don’t know who he is. And people saying this is just wrong etc there’s alot of young families who have children before the dad passes too so maybe lau off the judgment on age. Of the mum was also 80 then yeah thats not fair but she will be able to love that child.

  • That’s just so wrong, that kid is going to grow up without a dad and even for the short time he may have left he’s not going to be able to be a full part of his child’s life. I can’t even really imagine being with anyone that old either.

  • Wow, still so fertile at 82 !

  • This somehow seems selfish. Thankfully the child’s mother is still young.
